About Cudmore Grove
Cudmore Grove Country Park is a nature reserve located on Mersea Island, covering over 102 acres. It is situated at the eastern end of Mersea Island overlooking the River Colne and the Blackwater Estuary. It has stretches of sand and gravel beach, a large grassy area, wooded paths and wildlife. It is a Site of Special Scientific and a National Nature Reserve.

Cudmore is popular for walking and birdwatching as well as exploring the beaches and seascapes.
For younger visitors is has several fantastic play areas not too far to car park, as well as picnic tables for to keep them happy for hours.
Cudmore also hosts the Mersea Island Parkrun on Saturday mornings throughout the year.

The park has historic features such as several WWII pillboxes and the remains of a 16th-century blockhouse fort, as well as cliffs that have yielded ancient fossils.

Winter offers peak birdwatching as Brent geese, wigeon, and birds of prey like peregrines gather on the marshes. In the warmer months, the meadows come alive with butterfly species, avocets and skylarks nesting in the long grass. The country park is also a favourite spot for adders.
Visitors can use the eco-friendly bird hide overlooking the northern pond. This sustainable vantage point offers front-row seats to see Little White Egrets in summer and migratory Shoveler ducks in winter.
